Revisiting an Old One

I was looking thru my old stuff recently and saw this wasn't really color balanced right, so I had some time this weekend to play around with it. It's still probably not perfect, but much better than it was before. Old one is on top.

Color Corrected

Pulled a lot of the saturation out of the darks and mids, and tried to balance the mountain with the sky better. Slightly higher contrast too.

Sketch

Haven't done this in a long time.

City Sketch

Someone at work inspired me to do some sketching. So this was the result using some ref I shot in Tokyo.

Photoshop CS4 Photomerge

Been trying the improved photomerge in Photoshop CS4. WAY better than what was in CS3. All these buildings line up now, and the blending seems better, plus there's more options in how it projects the stitch.

This was done since I had a scribble sketch that I liked and I wanted to try painting something without using photo textures for a change.

Started this almost a month ago. It's probably done enough for now. Originally started as a really flat section of Tokyo, with only 1 or 2 tall buildings.
